So you’ve got shiny new iPhone and you’re now wondering what you can buy for the new member of your family. Well, as with the iPod there’s absolutely masses of things to compliment your iPhone. So where do you start. Here’s our list of five top iPhone accessories.

ZAGG InvisibleSHIELD protective cover. There’re are lots of cases and covers available for the iPhone but I find that most of them cover up the stunning iPhone designer and leave you with something ugly. The inivisibleSHIELD is a sticky invisible plastic cover that you carefully position on the front and back of your iPhone. It’s incredibly strong (they use it on helicopter blades) and you can still see the beautiful form that is your iPhone. If you do buy this then take lots of care and time putting it on as it can be a bit tricky. Cost around £11-13.

Sennheiser MM50 earphones. The Apple earphones are pretty poor and I’ve never liked the fact that they’re white – they make you stand out from the crowd and depending on where you’re walking late at night then this can be a bit dangerous. The Sennheiser MM50 earphones feature a microphone and fantastic sound quality so you’ll have a much more pleasurable listening experience and be able to make and receive calls hands-free. Cost around £30.

The North Face ETIP gloves. It’s really cold at the moment so gloves are essential. The only problem is when you receive a call you have to take off your gloves so the touch screen recognises your finger movement. These clever North Face gloves feature tips on the fore-finger and thumb that enable you to control the touch-screen and your hands can stay nice and warm. Cost around £20 but seem to be sold out everywhere at the moment.


Emergency Battery Pack. The iPhone’s battery life is pretty good but if you’re intending to travel then it’d be wise to get a battery backup. There are loads of different kinds available and it really depends on how long you plan to travel without being able to charge your iPhone. If it’s a long time then I’d recommend one that takes AA or AAA batteries as these will be available at any shop along the way. There are also rechargeable packs available which are great if you’re just making a quick journey and can charge up both your iPhone and Battery Pack along the way. Cost between £5 and £40. Remember to check the specs for expected battery life.

A2DP Bluetooth Adapter. For some reason Apple decided not to include Bluetooth music streaming output on the iPhone so you’ll have to buy a separate adapter to do the job. This will then enable you to stream, via Bluetooth, your music from the iPhone to a Bluetooth enabled stereo or speakers. Cost around £14.
